Inside Legacy Studio: Designing the Haringey Huskies Letterman Jacket
Some club identities give you a lot to work with. A husky is one of them.
Where it started
Haringey Huskies came to us wanting a varsity jacket that felt genuinely collegiate, something that could hold its own against any American letterman jacket rather than reading as a hockey jersey redrawn in a different shape. With a mascot as strong as a husky, the brief was really about restraint: build the classic shape properly, then let the crest carry the identity.
The build
We kept this one in a clean black and white colourway, black wool body with white leather sleeves, the sharpest contrast in the range and the one that reads most instantly as "varsity" rather than "sportswear." Ribbed trim in black and white at the collar, cuffs, and hem ties it back to the traditional letterman shape.
The sleeve carries a crest patch built like a proper collegiate letter: a bold "H" in a shield, textured background, and a small paw print underneath as the detail that quietly tells you this is a huskies badge and not just an initial. It's a small piece of real estate but it's doing a lot of the identity work.
The chest carries a angular, stylised husky head mark in monochrome, sharp and modern rather than illustrative, sitting well against the black wool. It's the kind of crest that works equally well small on the chest as it would blown up across a full back panel, which gave us flexibility in how we placed it.

Why it matters
Not every club has an obvious mascot to lean on, so when one does, the job is to resist over-designing it. Haringey Huskies had a strong enough identity that our work was mostly about getting the classic varsity fundamentals right: the shape, the contrast, the trims, so the crest could do what it does best without competing with anything else on the jacket.
Legacy Studio is where Legacy Sportswear designs and produces custom kit for our club partners, from concept sketch to finished stitch.
