A Legacy Studio Story from London to Milano Cortina 2026
At Legacy Studio, craftsmanship begins with a story. Occasionally, that story goes far beyond design and tailoring—it becomes part of a moment in sporting history.
Earlier this year, our studio was approached by Dinija, whose fiancé had just been selected to represent Team Latvia at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics 2026. It was an extraordinary milestone, and she wanted to commemorate the moment with something truly special—a one-of-one leather jacket that reflected both national pride and the heritage of hockey.
The Design Process
Every bespoke piece at Legacy Studio begins with careful consideration of materials and form. For this project, the goal was to create something that felt both luxurious and authentic to the world of ice hockey.
We began by selecting a premium leather base, chosen for its structure, durability, and ability to age beautifully over time. From there, the design started to take shape through a series of subtle but meaningful details.
To capture the authentic spirit of the sport, the player’s name and number were applied in traditional tackle twill, the same technique used on professional hockey jerseys. This detail gave the jacket a sense of true athletic heritage while elevating it through handcrafted construction.
The colour palette remained intentionally restrained and powerful. Inspired by the Latvian national flag, we used deep burgundy and crisp white, allowing the jacket to carry the unmistakable identity of Latvia while maintaining a refined aesthetic.

Symbolism in Every Detail
Luxury craftsmanship is often defined by its details, and this jacket was no exception.
The Latvian crest was placed on the left chest, a position that carries deep symbolism in sport—representing the honour of playing for one’s country.
Along the sleeve, we embroidered a message that speaks directly to national pride:
“Dievs, svētī Latviju” — “God Bless Latvia.”
Stitched in Latvian, the phrase wraps elegantly around the sleeve, adding a deeply personal and cultural element to the design.
Every component—from the placement of the crest to the construction of the lettering—was carefully considered to ensure the jacket felt both timeless and meaningful.
From the Studio to Milan
Once the jacket was complete, the story continued beyond our studio.
To present the piece properly, the Legacy Studio team travelled to Milan, where we met Dinija outside the iconic Duomo di Milano, one of the most historic and recognisable landmarks in Europe. Against the backdrop of the cathedral’s white marble façade, we unveiled the jacket for the first time.
It was a moment that perfectly reflected the purpose of the project—craftsmanship meeting celebration at the heart of an Olympic city.

Witnessing the Moment
Later, we attended the USA vs Latvia game, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric.
Seeing Latvia compete on the Olympic stage is always special, but for our team, there was an added sense of pride. A piece that began as an idea inside the Legacy Studio had travelled all the way to Milan, becoming part of the story surrounding one of the world’s greatest sporting events.

Crafting Legacy
At its core, this project represents what Legacy Studio stands for: creating garments that carry meaning far beyond their materials.
This bespoke leather jacket is not simply a piece of clothing—it is a symbol of achievement, national pride, and a once-in-a-lifetime Olympic journey.
And for our team, it was an honour to play even a small role in that story.
