We designed and produced a limited run of custom letterman jackets for the Guildford Flames' retro game night — and the players wore them to the game .

When the Guildford Flames came to us about their retro game night, we knew this was the kind of project you don't take lightly. Ice hockey, nostalgia, and a crowd of passionate fans — the jackets had to be right. And we think they were.

We were commissioned to design and manufacture a run of custom letterman jackets, built around the Flames' iconic colour palette of navy, red and white. The centrepiece: that bold flaming "G" logo, in embroidery on the back the kind of craftsmanship that turns heads the moment you walk into the rink.

The Brief

The Flames wanted something that would honour the vintage spirit of the evening — a proper retro aesthetic, not a cheap gimmick. Think classic Americana sports meets British ice hockey. Wool body, leather sleeves, ribbed trim. The kind of jacket that feels like it belongs in 1994 but looks completely fresh today.

Our team got to work on the design straight away. We worked closely with the club to make sure the logo placement, sizing and colourway were exactly right. The  G needed to feel bold but not heavy-handed, and the overall shape had to look sharp whether the player wearing it was 5'9" or 6'4".

The Jackets

The finished jackets were everything we'd hoped for. Navy wool body with contrasting leather sleeves, classic ribbed cuffs, collar and hem — and that big G taking up the entire back panel. Clean. Confident. Exactly right for the occasion.

But the real moment? Seeing the players arrive at the game in them. Walking through the doors in their letterman's before puck drop, cameras out, fans already buzzing — that's the kind of thing that makes this job worth doing.

The Sale

After the pre-game buzz, we made the jackets available to the Flames on the night. The jacket where snapped up — which, honestly, was no surprise. When a garment looks that good and carries that kind of story behind it, it sells itself.

For the fans who got their hands on one, it's more than a jacket — it's a piece of the evening. A proper memento from a night the Flames faithful will be talking about for a while.

What This Project Means to Us
